A special post for a special friend

When I was a little girl I loved Christmas and I believed in Fairy tales. I still love Christmas, but I thought I’d outgrown Fairy tales. That was before Linda Goodnight gave us her book The Christmas Child.
Fairy tales are back…
The Christmas Child has all the elements, all that's missing is the "once upon a time":
A pure and beautiful princess whose love will cure the broken hearted.
A handsome troubled prince whose faith is gone.
A child in need of a Christmas Miracle.
A Scrooge out to put an end to the Season’s joy.
And a town where the focus is still on Christ at Christmas, and the whole town loves it and no one protests it. What more could you ask for in a place called Redemption?
Read the book. You will believe again.
I’m giving away a copy of the book, but instead of an interview with Linda to comment on, I need your help.
Linda’s whole life has been dedicated to helping others. She has been a nurse, a teacher, and now a writer.
Linda suffered a personal tragedy over the Thanksgiving holiday. On top of that a close family member is battling a particularly vicious form of cancer. Linda and her family are holding onto Christ, believing for their own Christmas miracle. Will you help?
Please leave a verse of encouragement or a promise to join Linda in praying for the miracle they need. The Bible says that when 2 or 3 agree wonderful things happen. I think we can get lots more than that. In a couple of weeks I’ll give the book away and I’ll include all your verses and pledges to pray in a card to Linda. I know it will bless her and uplift the entire family.
Please click on the word "comment" below and leave a special message for Linda and her family. Every response is a chance to win the book.

  1. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Linda, I'm praying that you'll feel the love, peace, and comfort of God as you walk through this.

  2. God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
    Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea...
    The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.
    Psalm 46:1-2,7

Lord, please comfort your child Linda and show Yourself mighty to her and to those she loves. Offer them a safe place, free of fear, to which they can run. Amen.

  3. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Psalm 91:1-2

Prayers for Linda and her family. What I know is sometimes God calms the storm, and other times He lets it rage and calms His child. Don't ever lose faith, for nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37

  7. "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to... comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion--to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor." Isaiah 61.

Lord, I ask that you comfort Linda and her family during this time of mourning as only You can. And display your splendor in their lives as they continue to trust in you.

  8. As it's written in Isaiah, when you go through the deep waters, you will not drown. I know it must feel like this right now--probably like you're going down for the third time. But I pray that you will feel the strong and mighty arms of Jesus holding onto you, and holding you up as you tread water.

  12. O God, I know You will never give us a burden to bear without giving us the grace to endure it, but some burdens just seem so heavy we find ourselves wondering if they can be survived. I ask that You fulfill Your promise to send an abundant amount of strength and grace to this hurting family. Let them feel Your presence in a very real way, Lord, for without You, they have no hope. I ask this in Jesus' name, Amen,

If you could see trouble through God's eyes, you would see God seeing your through it.

  13. Dear Linda, I prayed for you. You may find this Bible verse encouraging: Psalm 37:39 (NIV 1984) “The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.”

  18. Linda, having suffered the loss of two family members this year I know that any family tragedy can be difficult to get through. I am sure you are surrounded by many people who love you and that can mean so much. Your strength will come through them with the help of the Lord. He sends His angels in many shapes and sizes. I will keep your family in my prayers! God bless!

  20. "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted in God."

    1 Corinthians 1: 3-4

I know you feel like you're going down, Linda, and that your heart can't take much more, but God will sustain you. He sees your tears. He has not forgotten you, my sister.

Father, touch Linda, even now. Let her feel your presence. Comfort her, uplift her, and save her by the strenth of your right hand. Be with her, her family, and all those involved in this situation. Holy Spirit, move on my sister's behalf. Heal her broken heart, in Jesus' name.
